World Changers

The NYU World Changers Mentoring Program gives 9th-12th graders in the Bronx Lighthouse Charter School a glimpse of what college life is like. Each student receives a personal college mentor from our group of AAP World Changers, matched through academic interests, hobbies and what they desire help in.

Sessions are once every 2 weeks, alternating between the NYU campus and Bronx Lighthouse school. Throughout the semester, we work on resumes, essay writing, college apps, scholarships, team building, organization, NYU specific information, etc. Students learn important skills to use for the remainder of high school, and the transition into college. The students come to NYU and participate in different organization meetings, meet NYU students outside of World Changers, take tours of campus and attend large NYU events that are open to the public. The students are recognized at our annual Gala in May, receiving certificates for participating in the program. Our first senior class will be graduating this May as part of the 3rd year in the program.
