The CAS Policy Book contains policy and procedural information relevant to department administrators, including Chairs, Directors of Undergraduate Studies, and department administrators. You may download the most up-to-date guide by clicking on the link below.
The College’s Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) prepared this manual that assembles existing policies and procedures and will update it as necessary. It is intended to guide our faculty, administrators, and advisers--especially, but not exclusively, in their work with students, the Committee on Undergraduate Curriculum, and the Registrar--and we welcome suggestions for additions, improvements, and corrections (OAA’s email alias is cas.academicaffairs@nyu.edu). The focus is on policies and procedures that OAA oversees, but we have also--without claiming to be exhaustive--included policies that are the responsibility of other College offices, simply because faculty and departments often direct their policy questions to OAA. We recommend bookmarking the CAS Bulletin, as well as the Arts & Science page compiling administrative resources. In addition, the University’s Faculty Handbook is a crucial resource. This CAS manual, it should be noted, includes very few policies that properly fall under central Arts & Science or the University as a whole; our concern is to make the internal work of the College as transparent as possible.
