Liberal Studies Transitioning Students

Liberal Studies (LS) students who are transitioning to CAS will be invited to special orientation sessions during the spring semester of their sophomore year. The goal of these sessions is to provide LS transitioning students with all the information they need to make a smooth transition into the College. CAS advisors lead these sessions and are available to answer questions. LS transitioning students must then declare their majors and meet with their assigned advisor in the major department in order to ensure that appropriate course selections for the following semester are being made.

Once LS transitioning students have fully transitioned into CAS, they will continue to meet with their major advisors for registration clearance, but they are also encouraged to meet with a CAS advisor to address any non-major related concerns (such as the College Core Curriculum). Students may contact the College Advising Center (Silver Center, Room 905, 212-998-8130) to schedule a meeting with their assigned CAS advisor, or they may meet with an advisor during walk-in hours at the College Advising Center (Monday-Friday, 10am-4pm, but not Wednesdays 2pm-4pm). For more information about the LS-CAS Transition, visit the CAS New Student Center.

In addition, current LS students and those who have recently made the transition into CAS can contact Rachel Sloane, the CAS advisor liaison to Liberal Studies, at LS students can also stop by Rachel's walk-in hour at the LS Advising Office (726 Broadway, 6th Floor), every Wednesday from 11:30am-1:00pm.
