Students who Transfer from Other NYU Divisions (Internal Transfer)
Students who are transferring to CAS from a different NYU division are invited to special orientation sessions. The goal of these sessions is to provide students with information that is CAS-specific and to translate degree requirements from other programs to CAS. CAS advisors lead these sessions and are available to answer questions.
These students are assigned an academic advisor within the College Advising Center. In addition, all internal transfer students must declare a major and meet with an assigned advisor in the major department in order to ensure that appropriate course selections for the following semester are being made.

Students who Transfer from Other Colleges/Universities (External Transfer)
Advising for students who are transferring to CAS from another college or university begins once the College is notified that they have accepted admission. Students are required to complete the CAS Virtual Advising Portal. Once they have completed this, they are in direct contact with an academic advisor to interpret their Transfer Credit Report, assist with course selection, and answer all questions about degree requirements and registration.
These students are also required to attend a two-day transfer orientation session which provides additional information needed to make a smooth transition into the College. CAS advisors lead these sessions along with current upperclassmen who serve as student resources throughout the orientation and transition.
External transfer students are assigned an academic advisor within the College Advising Center. In addition, all external transfer students must declare a major and meet with an assigned advisor in the major department in order to ensure that appropriate course selections for the following semester are being made.
