The College Alumni Association is excited to organize its first Oxford-Style Debate in conjunction with the CAS Student Council. The purpose of the debates is to invite current students and alumni to debate in-depth about pertinent and vital issues that affect NYU and society at large. The debate involves a current student and alumni on each side of the motion to provide diverse and substantive views to the discussion.
In the middle of the debate, there will be an open question period in which audience members may ask questions to either or both sides on their positions and to challenge each side's arguments.
The motion for this debate will be:
A three-year undergraduate education is an appropriate alternative to the current four-year educational model here in the United States.
6:30PM – Doors open
7:00PM – Welcome
7:05PM – Introduction of Debate Motion
7:15 PM – Debate Begins
8:15 PM – Debate Ends
After the debate audience members will vote for the side that they believe has won the debate. There will be food, snacks, and the opportunity to network with fellow alumni at the event.
