Meet Gabriel Luce, future Physician who began our program in the Fall of 2018…
“After spending several years working in tech and playing music professionally, I finally decided to take the plunge and pursue a long-time dream of becoming a doctor. Having been out of school for over a decade and lacking a science background, I knew I needed to be in an educational environment that was both supportive and rigorous. After carefully evaluating many programs, I decided to come to NYU, where I have had great experiences with all of the advisors, professors, and fellow students. Being an NYU student has also helped open doors to other experiences beyond academics. It’s helped me to find volunteer opportunities, and I currently work with NYU Langone Health’s Healthcare Innovation Bridging Research, Informatics, and Design (HiBRID) Lab, where we work collaboratively with research and operational teams across NYU Langone to improve digital systems that aid healthcare delivery and research. For anyone considering a career change into medicine, the most important thing is to know what you’re signing up for. Before you make your decision, seek out as many healthcare-related experiences as you can, such as shadowing a doctor or volunteering at a local hospital. And, most importantly – don’t let anyone tell you that you’re “too old” for medical school!"
