Dean's Opportunity Fund for Study Away (Fall/Spring)

The Dean’s Opportunity Fund for Study Away (Academic Year) provides need-based financial assistance to CAS students who have been admitted to study away at one of NYU’s global academic centers during the academic year, and who would be giving up a current on or off campus job. The fund helps to replace loss of income, up to $2000; students will need to provide proof of employment.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • CAS student.
  • Admitted to an NYU Global Academic Center for study away during the academic year
  • Paid deposit for study away
  • Provide proof of employment at on-campus or off-campus job
  • Demonstrated financial need.

How to Apply:

  • Complete the online application.
  • Upload three consecutive paystubs from current job to the application when prompted.

Deadline to Apply:

  • Rolling pending fund availability.

Dean's Opportunity Fund for Study Away (Summer)

The Dean’s Opportunity Fund for Study Away (Summer) provides need-based financial assistance to CAS students who have been admitted to one of the College of Arts and Science summer abroad programs and display financial need. Award recipients will receive a minimum of a $1,000 scholarship, based on financial need. The scholarship will be applied to the summer term bursar bill.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • CAS student.
  • Admitted to a CAS Summer Abroad Program.
  • Paid deposit for study away.
  • Demonstrated financial need.

How to Apply:

  • Complete the online application, including a one page statement.
  • Allow for review process
  • Enjoy the summer abroad program!

Deadline to Apply:

  • Rolling decisions. Students are considered for funds after admitted to CAS program and after paying deposit.
  • Last date to apply, pending fund availability, is Friday, April 28, 2017.

Dean's Opportunity Fund for Graduate School application

The Dean’s Opportunity Fund for Graduate School Application provides need-based financial assistance to CAS students planning to pursue a terminal degree (PhD, MD, JD, MSW, MFA). Students are able to receive up to $500 for application related expenses (e.g., program application fees; travel expenses associated with admissions interviews; fees for LSAC, AMCAS, AACOMAS). Complete the electronic application here.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • CAS student or certificate program
  • Pursuing admission to outstanding terminal degree program
  • Demonstrated financial need

Application:

  • Submit the electronic application by November 4, 2016 by 11:59 p.m.
  • The application includes questions about your current academic standing and financial aid
  • You will be asked to list all programs to which you are applying and all related expenses
