Certificate in Editing

This program equips students with the complete set of editorial skills required to pursue a career in editing. Learn about copyediting, indexing, and other manuscript work for publishing companies and information services of major corporations. Study grammar, usage, style, punctuation, content, and spelling, as well as how to edit and rewrite text in manuscript or digital form for accuracy, clarity, and flow of content.

 

Upon completion of the program, students have attained the following:

• A working knowledge of what form and level of editing is required for a manuscript based on its area of specialization.

• Specialization and training in a specific area of interest such as legal, scientific, manuscript, magazine, or financial copyediting, among many others.

• Employable skills in copyediting, proofreading, and indexing of manuscripts in various formats.

• The benefits of a course tailored by a special advisory group of professionals from book, magazine, and online publishing to ensure that the most current skills are taught within each course.

 

This certificate is awarded to students who successfully complete five courses.

Certificate in Publishing

 

This unique program, designed by members of the publishing industry, offers one of the few professional credentials in the field. The program is taught by working publishing professionals and provides a thorough understanding of the industry’s key functions and the way in which technology has impacted its growth in recent years. Learn about the related aspects of book, magazine, and electronic publishing, and acquire professional training within one of these sectors.
