First-Generation Students are often perceived as the "Invisible Middle", in other words, first-generation students are less likely than other students to be involved in on campus activities and organizations (Nichols, 2004; Pike & Kuh 2005).
Proud to Be First and the Leadership Initiative believe that it is vital to empower first-generation students, and provide the tools to thrive as leaders. Starting on February 21st, the NYU Leadership Initiative will host four student leadership development trainings for a select group of first-generation students. The program will consist of four experiential workshops. The program is customized to help first-generation students naturally develop a powerful leadership presence and the ability to match leadership styles to leadership challenges.
Students must apply to be considered for the program. The application deadline is Monday, February 6th at 5:00 PM EST.
This program is only open to first-generation CAS students. Interested students can learn more and apply, here.
