When should I apply to the program?
CAS undergraduates are encouraged to submit a pre-application to the BA-MPA or MUP track after completing at least three semesters in CAS (transfer students can submit the pre-application after completing one semester in CAS). Most students submit the pre-application in the spring of their second year or the fall or spring of their third year. This gives them time to plan and complete MPA or MUP coursework during their remaining terms in CAS. Students must be admitted to the BA-MPA or BA-MUP track prior to graduation from CAS in order to have their undergraduate coursework count towards their Wagner degree.

Where can I find a list of specializations?
Specializations for the MPA in Public and Nonprofit Management and Policy are available
Specializations for the MPA in Health Policy and Management are available
Specialization for the MUP are available
I'm interested in the BA-MUP/BA-MPA track but am not majoring in one of the approved majors. Can I still apply?
You can view the list of majors approved to participate in each Bachelor's-Master's track in our Wagner Eligibity Information. While we encourage students in other majors to inquire about the BA-MUP/BA-MPA if interested, we cannot guarntee that your major will be approved for participation.
Can I pursue both a cross-school minor and the BA-MPA or BA-MUP Program?
While CAS students are not prohibited from pursuing a cross-school minor in addition to the BA/MPA, they should understand that all courses taken outside of CAS, including those for the minor and the MPA, will count towards the 16-credit limit on coursework done outside of CAS (non-UA credits). In most cases, pursuing a cross-school minor will limit your ability to take graduate-level coursework in Wagner while a CAS student. Additionally, with the exception of UPADM-GP 101 The Politics of Public Policy, few of the undergraduate courses in Wagner that count toward the various public policy minors will also count towards the MPA degree.
How do I register for graduate-level courses in Wagner?
BA-MPA/MUP students who wish to enroll in graduate-level courses in Wagner should contact wagner.undergraduate@nyu.edu before the registration period begins to request enrollment assistance. When requesting access to a graduate-level course, students should provide their name, ID number ("N" number), the name, course number, section, and five-digit Albert registration class number of the course, as well as their registration appointment time. Please note that for the two core courses with Wagner undergraduate equivalents, CAS students should register for the undergraduate version of the course.
