A central goal to AAP is the development of leaders. AAP endeavors to promote leadership through all of its programs, committees, and activities, as the majority are student-led, student-run or, at a minimum involve student feedback of some kind.

Academics
The AAP Academics committee is committed to providing academic support to the students of the Academics Achievement Program. The Academics Committee Co-Chairs (2022-2023: Adrian, Dimiana, Mohamed, & Tracey) provides a weekly newsletter which consists of scholarships, job opporutnities and internships for students. This newsletter also consist of a weekly student highlight, in recogniton of everything our students do. Furthermore, the committee also acquires nightly study spaces in Bobst library for members of AAP.
Community Service/World Changers
The AAP World Changers program is in collaboration with the Pharos Academy and matches NYU mentors with 9th-12th graders in the Bronx. The program meets on a bi-weekly basis approximately every other Friday from 2:00-5:00 PM with the mentors and mentees alternating locations, enabling the high school students to obtain a glimpse of what college life is like when they visit the NYU campus. This program is coordinated by the AAP Community Service Co-Chairs (2022-2023: Arielle, Jailee, Mohamed, & Salma) as well as the staff from the Bronx Lighthouse Charter School.
Rap Session
Rap Session provides an opportunity for students to consider the opinions/perspectives of one-another in an open and safe forum on Mondays from 4:30-6:00 PM. The 2022-2023 Co-Chairs are Alia, Fatou, Saira, & Whitney. As the school year progresses, participating students begin to assume the role of facilitator by presenting a topic of interest to AAP members. This presents a time for members to share their opinions on topics in a safe and respectful environment.
Games Day
Games Day offers AAP members an opportunity to interact with one-another while participating in an activity that solidifies the AAP community on Thursdays from 4:30-6:00 PM facilitated by the Games Day Co-Chairs (2022-2023: Marvin, Melissa, Nana, & Soleil) These activities include games, training sessions and the arts.
