The College Cohort Program is a school-specific program that provides all CAS first-year students the opportunity to build a small community within CAS that is diverse in intellectual range, serves as a crucible for debate and scholarship, and fosters a welcoming and supportive home.
Across its four years, the College Cohort Program focuses on four overarching themes: academic success, personal and career development, community engagement, and leadership experience. We define these themes as follows:
Academic Success - The ability to persist and graduate, while developing the skills required to do so and the knowledge required to make reflective, informed decisions about one’s academic path.
Personal and Career Development - Growth in life skills that will allow students to explore options beyond college and connect their interests and aptitudes towards their future goals.
Community Engagement - Building connections and opportunities for involvement throughout the CAS, NYU, and New York City communities.
Leadership Experience - Developing self-efficacy, mentoring, educational, advocacy, and planning skills through leadership roles working with fellow students and/or college administrators.
All of our initiatives in each year of the Cohort Program will be focused on development in one or more of these areas, and programs and outcomes are designed to build upon one another from year to year.
