Academic Success
Students will be introduced to NYU academic resources, including the University Learning Center and the Writing Center.
Students will develop a knowledge base about key NYU library spaces and services.
Students will develop an understanding of the CAS academic integrity policy.
Students will discover opportunities to connect with and explore academic departments, and will be encouraged to consider potential majors.
Students will visit an academic department in person.
Students will be introduced to research opportunities at NYU.
Students will enroll in a First-Year Seminar, a small course that allows them to establish a relationship with a professor and their peers.
Personal and Career Development
Students will be connected with the Wasserman Center for Career Development via an in-person cohort visit and customized session led by a Wasserman Career Coach, their advisor, and their College Leader.
Students will create a Handshake account to explore and connect with relevant professional opportunities.
Students will build an understanding of Wasserman services and resources.
Students will interact with and explore difference via CAS Orientation programs, the first-year cohort meeting curriculum, and cohort-wide events led by their College Leader.
Students will be introduced to peers that are engaged and connected in and outside of the classroom through a student panel.
Community Engagement
Students will build community and connections -- in one-on-one, small group, and large group settings -- within their cohorts and throughout the first-year class, beginning with CAS Orientation events and progressing through the year.
Students will be introduced to/connect with the larger NYC community through service activities during orientation and throughout the year.
Students will have opportunities to connect with the larger campus through the First-Year Class Board’s on-campus, large-scale events.
Leadership Experience
Students will be introduced to different Cohort Program leadership positions (including College Leader and Cohort President) available to second-year students.
Students will be introduced to goal setting, network building, and the NYU Leadership Initiative.
