Arts & Science invites applications for a Visiting Lecturer position in the area of educational technology to begin January 1, 2024, pending administrative and budgetary approval. We are seeking to hire recent graduates with a strong record of teaching and a background in educational technology. This is a full-time, non-tenure track, one-year appointment and may be renewed for up to one additional year based on mutual agreement. Over the academic year, the teaching load includes two recitation sections per semester along with a first-year seminar or the equivalent taught as instructor-of-record. Course relief is available for planning and leading the Core orientation sessions and the teaching and learning colloquium.
Additionally, as part of the Educational Technology team, this individual will consult with faculty to design, develop, and implement technology-enhanced teaching and learning initiatives, including those delivered face-to-face and online, evaluate current technology used by faculty and provide pedagogical and technical support in curricular design and development, create and deliver training programs including conducting training sessions and workshops, advise and educate faculty, staff, and students in the availability of technological resources within the NYU community, nationally and internationally, research and test emerging technologies for teaching, learning, and research, and ensure technical competence through on-going professional development.
Compensation:
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary for this position is $60,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. An additional stipend of $5,000 will be provided to reflect the 12-month duties for work related to educational technology.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent in a field related to Core offerings and extensive experience with educational technology. Successful applicants will have demonstrated effectiveness as college-level teachers with a commitment to serving diverse students. The successful candidate will also have experience designing and developing interactive learning experiences for face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online environments at the higher education level. Experience applying instructional design and pedagogical principles and familiarity implementing project plans is preferred.
Candidates for this position will be expected to have experience in one or more of the following areas: Google Apps for Education, learning management systems (ex. Brightspace, Canvas, Moodle), eLearning authoring tools (ex. Articulate, Camtasia, Captivate, Softchalk, Articulate), presentation tools, web publishing platforms (ex. Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, wikis), social and collaborative tools, digital video/audio production software (ex. Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate, Avid, Final Cut), and advanced knowledge of data visualization (ex. GIS, R), multimedia production, rapid prototyping, or programming (ex. Java, PHP, Python). Experience with discipline-driven efforts such as digital humanities, games for learning, or analytics/data mining.
