Our office supports NYU students at all stages of application. If you are considering reapplication to graduate schools of the health professions, we strongly encourage you to make an appointment with a staff member to discuss ways to improve your application portfolio.
We're Here to Help
Our advisors will review your initial application and help you identify potential areas of weakness, make suggestions for improvement, and refer you to additional resources as needed. Please email a PDF copy of your initial application to preprof.docs@nyu.edu at least two (2) business days before your advising session so that we can preview your materials and be fully prepared for the appointment. Be sure to include your full name, the date of your appointment, and who your appointment is with in the body of your email message.
Committee Letter of Evaluation
Re-applicants who have already interviewed with our office in the past do not complete a second Prehealth Committee Application or participate in a second committee interview. If more than four years have lapsed since your initial application, we ask that you speak with an advisor about your application readiness prior to requesting updates to your Committee Letter.
In lieu of submitting a new application, re-applicants are expected to submit updates in SurveyMonkey Apply. If you did not use SurveyMonkey Apply (casprehealth.smapply.io) with our office please email preprof.docs@nyu.edu.
Updates we permit:
- Updated grades in BCPM courses
- Updated NYU unofficial transcript
- A statement explaining what you have done since your interview with us and why you are still motivated to enter the health professions (see prompts below)
- Certification that all additional or updated letter of evaluations have arrived must be given before you can request your letter. No previously submitted letters may be removed.
- Certification you have submitted your primary application must be given before you can request your letter.
The essay prompts you will be asked at the time of letter request are:
For students who interviewed with us in 2023 or prior but have never applied to schools of the health professions, what guided your decision to take a glide year after your interview? In what ways did you seek to strengthen your prehealth portfolio during that time? What were your goals for your glide year? In what ways have you accomplished these goals and in what ways are you still working on these goals? What about your Glide Year experience will make you a better clinician? Are there areas of your application you are still concerned about? Why is now the time to apply? [8000 characters max]
For students who have previously applied to schools of the health professions, when was the last application cycle for which you applied? What changes have you made to your application portfolio since your last submission? In what specific areas did you see a need to improve yourself as an applicant and what concrete steps did you take to create those improvements? Do you feel like your efforts to improve your portfolio were successful in making you a better applicant than you were in your previous cycle? Why is now the right time to reapply? [8000 characters max]
Reapplicants will be accommodated alongside first-time applicants in receiving materials that reflect the Committee offering for the current application cycle. Past application cycle formats will not be uploaded to application services, therefore, you should expect the same 4-6 week turnaround that was required during the generation of your initial Committee Letter of Evaluation.
