Firdaus graduated from NYU in the spring of 2018. While at NYU, he received a research grant after his work with the DURI. He is currently enrolled in the Master's program in Philosophy at Tufts University.
"Participating in the DURI program was a huge factor for me in deciding to pursue education policy as a future career. The DURI was the catalyst for me applying to graduate school. The structure of the program allowed me a great deal of autonomy, and I found that I really enjoyed conducting research and delving deeply into the topic."
Stephanie is currently enrolled in a Master's of Education Policy and Management at Harvard University. She is focusing on K-12 school policy, school segregation, and the school-to-prison pipeline. Upon completion, Stephanie hopes to engage with a Think Tank to continue her research on educational policy.
"Since my participation in DURI, I have further immersed myself within the physics department and truly feel a part of the community here. DURI is what connected me to the lab I actually loved. Prior to the DURI program, I had recently left a lab because it didn't provide me with a research project or a meaningful experience I was looking for. After the summer with DURI I was able to test the waters out with the lab I am in now, and I have learned so many invaluable skills since then that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise."
Selam is still a student at NYU, and she is slated to graduate in
"From [the DURI program] I gained a better focus on what I wanted to do in the future: use my skills in research and historical analysis to help make positive changes in our world. These considerations were major contributing factors in my pursuing a joint law and international relations degree. I hope to do work in immigration law upon completion of the degree."
Cristian graduated from NYU in the spring of 2017. He was accepted to a dual program of Law and International Relations at CUNY and CCNY, where he is currently enrolled.
"The DURI program was definitely a major turning point in my undergraduate career as it gave me the connections to both do research and apply to the accelerated program."
Brianna completed her undergraduate degree in spring of 2017, but she stayed at NYU to complete her BS/MS. While at NYU Brianna worked in the Dean’s neuroscience lab and served as a TA for a core science class.
