Who’s eligible?
You are probably eligible to participate, so apply! DURI is open to all undergraduate students who are enrolled in CAS, in good academic standing, and will not graduate in May 2022. DURI strongly encourages people who are underrepresented in the academy by race, ethnicity, age, religion, national and ethnic origin, disability, veteran status, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation, parental status, gender identity and gender expression to apply. DURI also strongly encourages rising sophomores and juniors to apply.
Eligible applicants must be able meet in person with their graduate mentors each week of the scheduled program; there will be no exceptions. Applicants must be available to attend all on-campus program classes, meetings, and events from May 23–July 6, 2022.
Can I have a job or take classes during the duration of the program?
Past DURI students have participated in the program while working or taking a class. Please keep in mind that you must attend all DURI events in person.
What if the listed inquiries do not match my current major?
This is not a problem. We encourage you to explore topics that interest you most. Many DURI alumni have conducted research projects outside of their field of study.
When will applicants hear back regarding acceptance into the program?
Undergraduate applicants will hear back by April 3, 2022.
Is there a financial award for acceptance into this program?
Undergraduates will receive a $3,000 stipend to defray the cost of living.
